We’ve been reviewing research that Freescale completed with Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) earlier this year (see my first, second and third posts). Our premise is that smartbook tablets will take different shapes and forms depending on their use models. In other words, one size tablet does not fit all. This is a corollary to the state of the smartphone market. Different users have different tastes and needs which spawns a variety of end products.
Today we look at the life of the college-age student who is into art and music. Our research showed that this age group desires a product that will augment their existing electronics. Thus a design was completed that allowed the smartbook tablet to be integrated into various other components.
For this to be achieved, a docking system was created which allows a variety of traditional connections which span the range from new digital connections to traditional analog connections favored by audiophiles.
By using different connections, a variety of use cases is allowed. Each use is different, but the theme is tying into existing equipment to augment the users experience, not substitute it.
From DJ to home audio, this docking system allows the smartbook tablet to connect to systems that already exist.
